John A. Price Excellence in Chaplaincy Award


Established in 1984, this award was named in honor of the late Chaplain John A. (Jack) Price, Albuquerque Police Department (NM).  He consistently demonstrated excellence in his own chaplain ministry, encouraged others to excellence, and was willing, over and over, to give recognition when he saw excellence in the chaplaincy of others.  Jack served as ICPC’s President from 1977 to 1979. 
 
A minimum of 2 awards (equal consideration given regardless of agency size) are presented at the Annual Training Seminar (ATS) to recognize and honor law enforcement chaplaincy work at the local level.
 
Eligibility:  The nominee must be a FULL member of ICPC.  When applicable, the Ethics Chair and Regional Director are contacted for their acknowledgement and endorsement of the nominees.  Current ICPC Executive Officers are ineligible for this award during their term in office.
 


Stuart O. Nelson Liaison Excellence Award

 

Established in 2009, this award was named in honor of Retired Detective Stuart O. Nelson who helped develop the most effective and far-reaching police chaplaincy programs while serving the Rockford Police Department, (Illinois, USA).
 
Eligibility: The nominee must be an active member of ICPC for a minimum of five years and serve as an agency liaison officer.  When applicable, the Ethics Chair and Regional Director are contacted for their acknowledgment and endorsement of the nominees.  Current ICPC Executive Officers are ineligible for this award during their term in office.
 


Order of Merit

 

Established to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth, development, and success of ICPC.  Past presidents receive the Order of Merit upon completion of their years of service on the Executive Committee.
 
Eligibility:  Nominee must be an active member of ICPC for a minimum of five years, demonstrated outstanding service to, or having brought great credit to, ICPC. Distinguished performance clearly identifies them as having played a key role in the mission and purpose of ICPC. Personal dedication and self-sacrifice will be considered. When applicable, the Ethics Chair and Regional Director are contacted for their acknowledgment and endorsement of the nominees. Current Executive Officers are not eligible for the award during their term of office. 


Special Recognition

 

Established to recognize chaplains, liaison officers, or other individuals who demonstrated outstanding contributions to law enforcement chaplaincy.
 
Eligibility:  Nominee must be an active member of ICPC, demonstrated outstanding contributions to law enforcement chaplaincy.  When applicable, the Ethics Chair and Regional Director are contacted for their acknowledgement and endorsement of the nominees.


Certificate of Appreciation or Recognition

 

Recipients may be recognized for retiring from service as a Regional Director, committee chair, or agency position; significant birthdays, anniversaries, or other contributions; major donations; achievements, contributions or work on behalf of ICPC or law enforcement chaplaincy; or other milestones.

Eligibility: Any ICPC member, donor, or contributor is eligible. When applicable, the Ethics Chair and Regional Director are contacted for their acknowledgment and endorsement of the nominees.
